Update #2

Habakkuk 1:5"Look at the nations and be amazed! Watch and be astounded at what I will do! For I am doing something in your own day, something you wouldn't believe even if someone told you about it...2:3But these things I plan won't happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed...4the righteous will live by their faith..."

Howzit (African for hello)!

I made it to Johannesburg! I have experienced MAJOR networking problems and have been unable to get connected to the internet – but everything else has been AMAZING, so I won’t complain. The first few days have been incredible. Pictures are being posted to http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/egeorgiu/album?.dir=85aescd&.src=ph&store=&prodid=&.done=http%3a//pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/egeorgiu/my_photos - Check out what I have been doing!

The biggest surprise is that I am serving not only as the operations manger but as a consultant as well. Sunday night the team leads, because they were one short, asked if I would be open to consulting. So, Brett Johnson (equip founder) is my co-consultant, and my client is Brenda de Charmroy the owner of Junction Choices. Brenda is an amazing woman who has been a equip client recruiter and consultant. Whoa. Monday morning was a bit intimidating for me – but God is amazing!

In chatting with Brenda, I discovered that her two sisters are Physical Therapists and that we have been experiencing a lot of the same difficulties lately. Also, where our skill sets are concerned, where I am weak, she is strong, and vice versa. Brenda works with companies/cities/clients that are at a crossroads in their lives or business. The choices she guides them through usually lead to radical/transformational change.

One last thing…I have been HIGHLY allergic (I stop breathing) to all tree nuts since I was little. On the flight from Minneapolis to Amsterdam, I didn’t have time to stop for lunch and right after take off the snack I was offered was a package of roasted almonds. I was unable to get to my carry-on to have one of my power bars, and a headache / nausea was imminent…I prayed…HARD. I can’t explain it, but I felt it was ok to eat the almonds…I did…with no side effects! Wow. I not only ate mine, but my seatmates! Whoo Hoo! Miracle! I am finding that almonds are very prevalent in South African foods and are really good! I am not quite ready for cashews – but am excited about almonds!

God is moving and is ever-present and I think this is due to all the time spent praying for me. Here are the prayer updates from my last letter:
  • Travel mercies: I made it safely and without nausea! Whoo hoo! Our arrival in Johannesburg was delayed and I had to run to one of my connections (but made it in plenty of time) but otherwise the flights were “boring” and smooth. My luggage made it too!
  • Funding – Thank you for financially supporting me – before I left the states I had enough to cover the in-country costs as well as my flight and insurance! Whoo hoo! God has also provided me with extra to cover the “unexpected” since I arrived (computer stuff).
  • Strength and stamina - I only had a little jet lag, adjusted quickly to African time, and have experienced NO sleeping problems! I have been on the run constantly and have felt fatigue but not exhaustion!
  • Protection while traveling and while in Johannesburg – I have been driving and moving around the city without incident – it is a bit weird driving on the other side of the road and having the gearshift on my left! I have to keep telling myself to “Swing Wide” when I turn right!
  • Employment opportunity – nothing concrete yet, but the intercession team that prays 24-7 before and during the venture are aware of my situation. I am expecting great things!

As I stated in my “update” prayer is essential and a solid group of prayer supporters is my greatest need. When you remember me, please petition God in my behalf for the following:

  • Computer issues – that I would be able to connect consistently to the internet
  • Family – pray for protection/comfort for my family as I am away
  • Protection while in Johannesburg
  • Strength, Stamina, positive Attitude for the long days
  • Spiritual growth and intimacy with God
  • Insight for my client as I work as a consultant
There are daily updates posted on the website (http://www.repurposing.biz/). Thank you so much for your time, prayer, and for supporting me!

Blessings,

Dena
