“For I, the Lord your God, have taken your right hand in mine, saying to you, Have no fear; I will be your helper.” Isaiah 41:13
Julie and the "Boys" - Samson, Lucky, and Buddy
I am predominately left handed. There is a story about how my dad went into my kindergarten class (after seeing me struggling to practice writing right handed) and, in front of the teacher, handed me a pencil. I grabbed it with my left hand. As far as he was concerned this proved his point and I was a leftie. I think the poor teacher was a bit overwhelmed. There were 45 five year olds in my class…and only two were left handed. From then on, Dinah Fay and I had our own table for “letter learning” and “writing”.
As a therapist, it is important to know your clients dominant side. It is usually stronger, has greater dexterity, and gets a lot more use than the non-dominate side.
In the Bible, there is a special significance to the right side. It says that in God’s right hand there are pleasures for ever and ever, that it is our support, our strength of salvation, and that it is full of righteousness and works of power. Jesus is sitting at God’s right hand in heaven and the verse above says we are on his left (“I…have taken your right hand in mine”).
I thought about this concept: My right hand in his left one. His right hand is still free to do all the cool things mentioned above (as well as the ‘blighting of the enemy’ part I left out) and my dominate hand is unfettered. Uh oh.
Yeah. Uh oh. My stronger, more agile hand is loose. Great. How much stuff can I muck up with it available! I have this picture in my head of a Dad holding a little girls right hand. She is busy “doing” stuff (picking flowers “Pretty huh Daddy?”, pulling weeds, waving at people, pointing at things) that she doesn’t realize he is patiently waiting for her to focus on him so they can walk a bit farther.
I think this is a good picture of my life. I get so involved in ‘helping’ with my unrestrained, stronger side that I delay my life moving forward. I don’t usually ask if God needs my help, I just see what I perceive as need and go after it. I wonder where I would be if I had had this realization sooner. Probably a lot farther down the sidewalk!
Updates:
Living – safely ensconced at my relative’s house
Car – I have one until Eric returns – probably September 1st-ish.
Samson – Houdini and accomplice (Lucky) got out on Wednesday night. The accomplice got hungry and came back in after a few hour outing. Houdini, on the other hand, stayed out all night (ask about scaling the fence in flip flops and nightclothes for a good laugh). He has been re-introduced to a harness complete with id tag…his microchip has been updated…so, I am ready for Houdini's next adventure!
Work – training is half way through the cycle. I only have one more Saturday!
Financing – I have raised about $1600 a month – thank you. I hope by January we will be booking enough LEMON Leadership conferences that my position will be salaried.
Requests:
Housing – I am with my Aunt and Uncle until the new rēp headquarters are determined. I need a cat friendly space close to the office.
Car – God only knows!

Work - I am trying to book 6 income producing forums and seminars by the end of the year...let me know if you, or your office, would be interested or would like some more information: http://inst.net/lemon_leadership.html
Samson – that indoor living will be not only tolerable but preferred! I am not so concerned about him getting lost – I am more concerned about the hawks and coyotes having a tasty treat! Financing - Eventually my position will be salaried but at first I need to raise ~$3000 a month cover expenses. KATHY MILLER: I have been pondering something similar this past week. You know how all the pictures of Christ on the cross shows the nails in the palms of His hands? And the discovery several years ago that the nails were not in His hands but His wrists, because the palms couldn't have supported His weight. Well I read a couple weeks ago how, "we are written on the palms of His hands", Got to thinkin', if the nails had gone through His hand some of those names would have been distorted maybe even lost. And when they took Jesus down from the cross the blood from His wrist would have dropped onto the palms of His hands. For me there is comfort in that picture...why I can't tell you, I just see beautiful hands with holy blood washing the names imbedded on the palm. Hummm, a wonderful thought of my name being washed by the blood before I was born.
ERIK HAMMOND (a fellow left-hander): I decided that we could twist it around a bit and say that the right-handers have to let go of God's hand in order to "do" the busy stuff. We are so lucky to be able to hang on while mucking things up. ;)
My partner and I were sent here simply because this particular article was tweeted by a girl I had been following and feel very I made it here. scholarships
You nicely summed up the issue. I would add that this doesn’t exactly concenplate often. xD Anyway, good post…
